http://www.mightygloves.com/2009/01/skati_katz_interview.htmlSkati Katz is the newest member of the Mightygloves.com team, and we would like to introduce you to her.
She started boxing in 2006 as a workout hobby. Skati fell in love with the training, even though it was the hardest thing that she had ever done. "The first time I stepped in the ring to spar was a completely different feeling. You can hit the heavy bag, mitts, speed bag, and shadow box all day long, but once you get in the ring with another person it's a different intensity. I loved it!" she says. She is a warrior and loves the competition, boxing is simply her passion. She loves what she does with all of her heart.
On February 7th, 2007 her big day arrived, and she was ready to get into the ring and win! She matched up against the tough Stefani Torres, and got a 3rd round TKO. Skati's goal is to become the next middleweight champion of the world.
Skati, how are things going with you?
Everything is great. I am getting ready for my next fight on Feb. 5th in Austin, TX
Did your last fight against Sarka Stoklaskova go as you had expected?
The fight was tough and I learned a lot from the experience. I am very happy about the victory
What did Sarka Stoklaskova bring to the ring that you may not have expected?
She brought strength that I didn’t expect
Who would you like to fight next?
I don’t have anyone in particular that I am looking at right now, but I believe 2009 is going to be a great year for my boxing career. I hope to have a shot at a _title_.
When do you expect your next fight to be?
February 5th 2009
Do you have any idea where your next fight may be?
Austin TX

What are your short term goals?
Fight at least 4-6 times in 2009 and stay undefeated
What are your long term goals?
Be the next middleweight world champ
You always appear to be in great shape. What does your training look like?
My training is very intense. My trainer Ann Wolfe, who is an 8 time world champ is an amazing trainer. I run every single day 4 miles, we box everyday for 2-3 hours and also do strength and conditioning for another few hours. I am in the best shape of my life right now.
When you are in between fights do you stay in the gym or do you only train during training camp prior to an upcoming bout?
I always stay in shape. I train everyday. My training differs when I am in boxing camp. I lift a lot of weights in the off season and then during the boxing camp I don’t lift weights but do lots of boxing drills.

Regarding nutrition, do you have a strict nutritional regimen or do you pretty much eat whatever you want?
No, I have a very strict diet. I only eat clean. Lots of fruit, veggies, chicken, eggs, almonds, organic foods, and lots of protein. I never eat out and watch everything that is put in my body.
Who were or are your inspirations in the sport of boxing?
My trainer, Ann Wolfe, is my inspiration. She is the best and I really am lucky to know her and train with her. She is someone EVERYBODY can learn from.
How did you get your nickname "The Killer"?
My promoter in Austin gave me that name. I don’t feel like I am a Killer. Yes I go into a fight to Kill, but being a Killer is not my instinct. I am looking for a different nickname. You have any ideas… Ask your fans…
What or who do you credit your success to?
I credit my success to me. I am a very hard worker and especially in boxing you are in the ring all alone. Its you and only you. I owe a lot of my skills to Ann, again, an amazing trainer.

What can we expect from you near the future? Anything special coming up?
I am looking to fight a lot this year and build my fan _base_ around the world. I want people to know who I am and how serious I am about becoming a world champion.
Do you have anything you would like to tell boxing fans?
I want people to know that I am a real fighter and I love the sport of boxing. I have learned a lot about myself and life because of this sport. I want people to know that if you put your mind and heart in something, you CAN achieve it.
Do you have anything you would like to add to this interview?
I want to thank all my fans and want people to know that if anyone wants to contact me or ask me anything about boxing or myself, go to my website and contact me directly.
Thank you for taking the time to talk to Mightygloves.com.
