Samuel Peter's next fight will come against the oft-injured Vitali Klitschko.


Peter (30-1, 23 KOs), who won the _title_ in March by knocking out Oleg Maskaev in the sixth round of a long-overdue mandatory fight, was going to fight an optional defense this month but time ran short to put it together. All along, Duva has been working on the fight with Klitschko and found support from Showtime. "We're pretty much done with the deal with Showtime," Duva said. "[Showtime boxing chief] Ken Hershman has been great to work with throughout this process. We're committed to Showtime. It's 99 percent done." Klitschko (35-2, 34 KOs) hasn't fought since making his only _title_ defense against Danny Williams in December 2004. Numerous injuries led to his retirement and various comebacks fell through because of more injuries. One of the remaining hurdles in finalizing the deal is contract language about what will happen if Klitschko is again unable to fight on the planned date.

IF Vitali makes it into the ring.......Peter.......will understand the meaning of pain and know that THIS brother means business and isnt afraid of him at ALL. It will shock Peter how different Vitali will take it too him and is he is focusing on cardio thinking a long technical fight he is in for a rude awakening. Best thing he can do is try to get Vitali out of there early because Vitali will wade right into the water with Peter, drag him out to the deep end, and drown him with pure violence..... Cant wait to see the look on his face when he hits Vitali with his looping right money shot and VK just comes forward and drops a the punch combo on him like nothing even happened........

Vitali will end him if he can get in boxing shape without injuring himself. I dont know how to speak Russian but ill always thing at the end of the 10th ( from memory ) that when Manny told Vlad no power play safe you got this that Vitali got angry and told him to take the bum out in Russian.....He showed anger when Manny said that and immediate and forcefully told Vlad something in Russian so Manny could not understand...............


He told him what to do that night...........now he'll show him what he should have done and Peter will be no more

Vitali Klitschko vs Samuel Peter Signed For Oct. 11
"Time for the first giant to fall!" growled WBC heavyweight Champion Samuel Peter at the news that former champion Vitali Klitschko had signed to face him on October 11. "I've been waiting a long time for revenge on the first giant (Vitali's brother, IBF and WBO Heavyweight Champion Wladimir Klitschko) but now I get to knock them both out!."

While there are still two cities competing for the opportunity to host the Samuel Peter- Vitali Klitschko megafight (Abuja, Nigeria and Berlin, Germany), Peter says regardless of where it's held, his greatest hope is that Vitali actually shows up this time.

"He has already run from me many times, but now he has signed the contract. This time he must finally take his punishment like a man or get out of boxing forever.."

Peter's manager, Ivaylo Gotzev of Elite Sports Management, claims that news of Vitali's willingness to finally face his fighter makes their revenge scenario even sweeter. "This is the first half of Operation Giant Killer because we're going to take out Wladimir's brother before we settle the score with him. Vitali has been standing in Samuel's way for a long time, but now we've got the opportunity to send both of boxing's giants home with a beating."

Gotzev says Vitali's on-again/off-again comeback hopes have been a giant bump in the road to their plans for avenging the close decision Peter lost to brother Wladimir that included Klitschko hitting the canvas three times in 2005, but if Peter vs. Klitschko comes off as scheduled, it will lead to an important series of fights for the heavyweight division and the sport of boxing.

"This is one of the only meaningful fights in boxing at the moment. And Vitali has been standing in the way of even bigger business with his brother. Hopefully he will show up this time, so that the heavyweight division can settle things the right way and crown one true champion."

Peter, who is set to begin training camp next week, says he has only one message for Vitali Klitschko: "Come and get the punishment you deserve so I can get your little brother next."
