The show down has begun: At the fight week press conference in Berlin, the WBC-Heavyweight-Champion Samuel Peter and WBC Champion Emeritus Vitali Klitschko were joining for the first time before the fight on October 11. Both have finished their training camps last week and both appeared very confident in front of the media. "I'm very well prepared. It will be a great fight" promised 27-year-old Peter, who has been training in Freiburg, Germany for the last five weeks in order to defend his title.
Due to his status as "Champion Emeritus", Klitschko is allowed to fight for the WBC-Title. After 1.400 days he celebrates now his Comeback in the ring. "On October 11, we will know who will be the true WBC-Heavyweight-Champion", says Vitali. "I'm in great condition and have had a perfect preparation phase". Vitali is a two-time World Champion: In 1999 he won against Herbie Hide in the second round with K.O for the HBO-Title and in April 2004 he won the Title in Los Angeles with a victory in the eighth round against Corrie Sander.
This historic fight will be broadcast live on RTL beginning at 22.25 German time. In the United States the fight can be seen on Showtime. Worldwide the fight will be broadcast in 100 countries. The public work-out is taking place on Wednesday, October 8, at 13.00 at Mercedes Welt Berlin, Am Salzufer 1, 10587 Berlin. The public Weigh-in can be seen on Friday, October 10, at 12.30 at Karstadt Sports, Joachimstaler Str. 5-6, 10623 Berlin.
