December 11th, Las Vegas, USA – Vitali defends his WBC-Title against Danny Williams. Vitali already had 34 professional fights under his belt, when he entered the ring against the Englishman. Williams was to prove enormous fighting spirit and sheer willpower in this fight. But already 40 seconds before the end of the first round Williams was knocked down for the first time. In the third and seventh round he was floored by Vitali´s huge uppercuts and right hands again. Finally in round 8 Williams torture was over. Even though after the fourth knockdown he was able to get up on his own and make it on time, but the referee had seen enough and waved off the fight. Vitali had defended his title in style!
