April 22nd, Mannheim – After a cautious start Wladimir becomes more aggressive by every round and dominates IBF- und IBO-Champion Chris Byrd. By the end of round seven Byrd seems to have nothing left and gets overwhelmed by Wladimir´s power and strength. After a barrage of power punches Byrd is knocked down. He barely manages to beat the count, but the referee stops the fight. The battered and heavily bleeding Byrd is beaten, and Wladimir is the new IBF and IBO Heavyweight Champion of the world by TKO in round 7.
